Prize for arts and science project

An arts and science initiative involving IBEC and Barcelona’s Arts Santa Mònica centre, which took place earlier this year, has been awarded the Antoni Caparros Prize for Best Knowledge Transfer from the University of Barcelona.

The project "Laboratory of Arts Santa Monica", in whose 'Think Lab' on 25-26 February IBEC was involved, will receive the award at a ceremony tomorrow night at the university’s Aula Magna on the Gran Via. The collaboration stemmed from a visit to IBEC of Josep Perelló, coordinator of the arts centre’s Science Area, to give a seminar entitled "Is art a new way of doing science?" in January of this year.

“I am especially excited to receive this award, because it gives value to innovation and research in a very different context to what we are accustomed to,” says Josep, who is also Associate Professor in the Department of Fundamental Physics at the UB.
