Spanish Minister for Education visits Nanobioengineering group

On a tour of the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB) earlier this week, the Minister for Education, Ángel Gabilondo, paid a visit to IBEC’s Nanobioengineering lab and spoke at length to Associate Director Josep Samitier about his group’s research.

Accompanied by UB rector Dídac Ramírez, the President of the UB Board of Trustees Sr. Joaquim Coello and the Secretary for University and Research of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Sr. Antoni Castellà, the minister learnt about the PCB’s initiatives that bring the research environment and collaboration possibilities to university students in the middle or final years of their study.

During the visit Josep told the minister about the main research projects going on in his lab, including the development of biosensors and lab-on-a-chip systems for diagnostic purposes using nanotechnology.
