Marie Sklodowska – Curie ITN – Early Stage Researcher (PhD Position) on multiscale modelling of Organic Electronic Biosensors (Ref. BORGES ESR15)

Main tasks and responsibilities / The successful candidate will develop research involving:

• Development of a multiscale theoretical model of organic electronic biosensors covering from the nanometric organic layer-electrolyte interface up to the micrometric electrolyte reservoir and electrodes.
• Development of efficient finite element modelling routines to solve the Poisson-Nerst-Planck, or similar ones, to model organic bioelectronic sensors.
• Time and frequency response analysis of organic bioelectronic biosensors.

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

• Bachelor (BSc) and Master (MSc) on Physics/Mathematics/Engineering and related fields
• Background on theoretical physics or applied mathematics is a plus
• Programming skills: MATLAB/ Python/ C++ and COMSOL is a plus
• Self-critical, capacity to learn and bring knowledge
• Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork, Proactivity, Commitment, Colegiality, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking
• High level of English

Mobility rule:

• The researcher must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of his/her host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her recruitment.
• Short stays, such as holidays, are not considered.
• Exceptions International Organisations: Eligible researcher must not have spent more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the date of selection in the same appointing international organisation.

Admission Criteria for ESRs:

• ESR shall at the date of recruitment by the host organisation, be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree

o Full time 3-year contract paid in accordance with the MSCA rules
