Measuring signals at the 11th “Recerca en directe” Science Fair

The event, which is co-organized by the PCB and the CatalunyaCaixa Foundation every year and is now holding its 11th edition, aims to demonstrate research projects carried out in research institutes in and around Barcelona, to bring science closer to the public and encourage students to pursue scientific careers. At the IBEC stand, visitors can find out for themselves how the electrical activity of the heart, respiratory system, eye, muscles and brain are tracked using electrocardiographs, oculographs and electroencephalographs, among other techniques.

Besides IBEC’s group, other research groups from centres such as CRG, ICFO and IRB have brought activities to the fair, so that visitors can participate in experiments using the same instruments and materials as are used a in real research environment.
